Do you feel the need to one-up your siblings when it comes to holiday gifts?

seems like my sister and I are constantly trying to out-do eachother when it comes to buying gifts for our parents.

I forgot my mom's birthday in March, so she won that round, but I'm totally winning the mother's day fight ;)

I lost this one long time ago. My older sister is just more creative than I am, so for example, she'll make up some artistic montage of some nostalgic pics, and I'll buy a massager or something. I'm not good at gifts.

My siblings all died horrible deaths in separate incidences, my father passed on from a massive heart attack after suffering from Alzheimers for ten years and my mother died fro brain cancer.

Nope, I don't have to compete with anyone. :(

Usually for holidays we just go out for a nice family dinner or cook, something like that. We buy ourselves our own damn toys.

Get out of the loop as soon as possible. Maybe that's just coming from a poor, in-debt actor... but still it seems like an unwinnable situation. Go for meaning in heartfelt gifts, no matter the "cost"

I remember one year when I was unable to drive and everyone else could, I just got them all a bunch of IOUs. Everyone had a good laugh and I seemingly got away with it, but the next year when I tried it again I sense they were a bit upset.
