No, but I feel bad when I don't give change to the subway musicians...at least the good ones. I always have some money for these two guys (accordion and violin) that sometimes play on Queen's Park.

that's just sad.

i don't feel terribly guilty if i pass someone by. sometimes i give a transient some change if i have some loose change on me - never more than a buck or so. meh.

I bought some homeless guys pizza once, I think they appreciated it, I felt like if I gave them $ it would end up being wasted

no. guilt is a stupid concept.
So you have no conscience? That makes you psychopathic.
A conclusion can only be valid when the premise(s) are true.

so it's more important to you that you don't get ripped off
than to help someone who really needs it?

You're damn right it is. Homeless people can live quite nicely around these parts. Screw them, they're just lazy leeches on society. Round'em up, I say!

lol, are you suggesting a mass execution of all the homeless? :D

You should hear the song "Kill The Poor" by Dead Kennedys.

EDIT: Lyrics:

Efficiency and progress is ours once more
Now that we have the Neutron bomb
It's nice and quick and clean and gets things done
Away with excess enemy
But no less value to property
No sense in war but perfect sense at home:

The sun beams down on a brand new day
No more welfare tax to pay
Unsightly slums gone up in flashing light
Jobless millions whisked away
At last we have more room to play
All systems go to kill the poor tonight

Gonna
Kill kill kill kill Kill the poor:Tonight

Behold the sparkle of champagne
The crime rate's gone
Feel free again
O' life's a dream with you, Miss Lily White
Jane Fonda on the screen today
Convinced the liberals it's okay
So let's get dressed and dance away the night

While they:
Kill kill kill kill Kill the poor:Tonight

They did it to themselves and have no willpower to pull out. I have no respect nor sympathy for people like that.

No, seen too many shows like Dateline where hiden video shows these beggers walking a block or so to where they parked the Lexus SUV and drive home after collecting a couple hundred tax free dollars.

one of the tv news channels in Dallas did some hidden camera story about the people who stand the corners of the freeway exits bumming for money...the ones working the good intersections could make as much as a $800 to $1000 a day...they even followed one guy home to his house at the end of the day...

another person had the nerve to say standing on the corner asking for money was alot easier than getting a job...

so to answer the OP's question: NO!!!

no, because if they really wanted to, any one of them could get a job for at least $6/hour. I know a friend of ours came here for vacation, and earned about $400 under the table working at a farm for 2 weeks. It's not too hard to find some sort of job. If you are so lazy where you don't try, but rather sit around begging for money, then i don't feel one bit bad for you. It's your own goddamn fault.

i also know that there was a homeless person out during the summer, and he was asking for money. My teacher decided to go to into the burger king the guy was next to, and he bought him a nice big sandwich + drink. Very nice of my teacher. Well, the homeless guy threw it at him and said he should have just given him money

Like I said, you people really need to read The Street Lawyer.

I'm sure all the ones that have no pity for these people have talked to the homeless and seen which shelters they go to and what conditions they live in. It's kind of hard to get a job when you don't have a permanent address. My wife has been looking for a job for over 3 months now and has been unable to get one yet. She has her masters in computer science and has even tried looking with banks and even grocery stores and has had no luck. That's here in Wash. DC too.

You people should know better than to believe everything tv tells you. Granted, there are a few that drive Lexus SUVs and whatnot, but to believe a majority are like that is ignorant.

Nope. Bums make more money than your average minimum wage worker.
Pic of bum I saw in SF
$120 new air jordans
$200 drumset
$100 dreadlocks
that' kid DOES NOT NEED more money

I agree. I have a lot of respect for those mexicans. They spend days after day selling oranges on the highway, or do back breaking gardening labor making next to nothing.
They are able to shelter themselves with their hard work.

Hell, no.

Find a different profession or starve to death.

God helps those that helps themselves

Eh? Those that help themselves help themselves.

God works in mysterious ways ;)

Not at all. I've been around Chicago so much that I know most of them are scamming, anyway. Try offering to buy them lunch or to take them to the bus stop and pay their fare. They resist like crazy.
