I see this all the time in movies and in real life but have yet to ever do this myself. The idea just creeps me out, I feel like it would totally ruin the experience of whatever you're eating. Have you ever done this? Even when I bite into something that's too hot I prefer to just take it rather than drink some water.

Here's an example (though he kinda has an excuse, the food is dry)

Who the hell doesn't do this? There's something wrong with you if you think it's abnormal.

Also you must have moisture to taste something. So technically you've been missing a lot of flavor by not taking a drink.

lol. Good point. I've done it once or twice by accident and I don't know why but I guess I forgot to swallow. When you do attempt this, whatever liquid you pour in your mouth - either be it water, soda, or coffee - completely dominates whatever food is in there. It is very unpleasant!

Maybe I'm just abnormal, and I eat my food whole. This would explain my bad gas.

Wow, totally not the reaction I was expecting, unless I'm being trolled. I'll give this a shot next meal I guess.

I don't do it regularly, but I have no qualms about it whenever I do. To me, sometimes the extra liquid just helps. Tends to be with food that feels like it's taking too long to chew or something - say, not as tender as it should be, or the food item is simply too dry and too large of a bite. The drier the food in question, the more likely I'm hydrating the food before digestion. :D

I do to wash stuff down. That's where the term came from. I put food in my mouth, chew and enjoy the taste, then have a drink to help swallow. It's like some people have a hard time taking pills without drinking.

BTW if you didn't check my example. It's a pretty hilarious series about a fat guy in a batman costume called "How-To, Batman". And thanks all for enlightening me.

Yea this basically. I don't try to, but it doesn't frighten me to.

No. About the only thing I could see doing this with would be a beer or wine that was specifically paired with the dish. Even then, I chew the food, then take a sip.

The only thing i've ever done this with is cookies & milk. Otherwise it is pretty much guaranteed to ruin the taste of whatever it is you're eating.

If you need more moisture to chew whatever you're eating, you might want to consider learning how to cook.

i did this just this morning during breakfast. i had just finished working out about 20 minutes prior and was still a little dehydrated. since i was pressed for time to catch my bus i just softened up the food a little with some milk and cut chewing time in half.

I did a few days ago and it was gross, I think it was because I felt nauseous (see hospital thread) , and the water combined with food helped it go down faster and whatever.

It was unpleasant.

Sometimes, when I'm eating bratwurst, I take a nice big gulp of beer, the combination of flavors is majestic!

Example is retarded. I don't want to watch some fat bastard do shitty things.

Fix up and drink when you eat. You might stop being such a puss.
