Just all of sudden decide, "Hey, I am tired of the way I look. I am going to start working out more often, and change things."
And you are really into it for a few hours. And then, when you get home, just not give a damn, and feel it's not worth it. When just a few hours ago you were ready to change your life.

no, that doesnt happen to me. i like the way i look, but i wanna look bigger so thats motivating me to workout harder and try to gain weight while working out.

setting goals to hit a certain weight or to put up a certain weight is what motivates me to do it.

Sometimes it takes a little push. I know it does for me. But even then it doesn't last that long. I have the motivation to go running every day, but not to lift weights, which I need to do to lose fat.

i try to hold on to that feeling and not let it slip away.

Like just now I kept trying to hit reply and I missed the first 3 times, then I got really inspired to keep clicking and after 4 more tries I finally got it.

It's not wrong at all. It is just what worked for me. When I started lifting weights a while back, I started losing fat almost immediatly. When I stopped, I gained back the fat I lost.

It's not wrong at all. It is just what worked for me. When I started lifting weights a while back, I started losing fat almost immediatly. When I stopped, I gained back the fat I lost.

you lose fat by expending more calories than you take in, regardless of what you do.

and by doing cardio, you expend a lot more calories than you do lifting weights, not to mention, your heart rate is going faster when you do cardio (typically).

I can jog for about 30-40 minutes, or roughly 4 miles or so. It's a slow jog. I can lift weights for over an hour. Not only am I building muscle, but I will continue to burn more calories for a longer period of time after my weight lifting session. The more muscle I build, the more calories I burn.
Also, I never meant quitting my cardio routine to lift weights. I meant doing cardio and weights.
