Do you ever just feel embarrassed for someone or squirm when you watch someone speak or do something?

I was thinking about it while watching Bush give answers to the questions asked of him tonight.

Do you ever feel uncomfortable watching someone when you see them screw up or watch someone do something that you know isn't going to end well? I know it happens to myself sometimes when I watch TV. I'll put my head down or cover my ears like "No I can't watch/hear this." Now I'm not talking about movies or sitcoms. I'm talking about real people in real situations.

Seems strange, but I've always had this inclination :confused:

Oh totally. But not when watching Bush talk -that just makes me angry. He represents america when he speaks to others and he's grammar/verbage is fvcking horrible.

It's like the video of the chick messing up the national anthem. I can't watch it, it's painful.

I get that even if I don't like the person. It makes me physically uncomfortable to see/hear someone making an ass of themselves. If its on TV I have to change the channel, but I'll flip back every few seconds to see if it's finally ended.

Well, at least you aren't representing America. ;)

I was doing stuff and listening to Bush take questions. He says something about the two parties and how they shouldn't do everything based on whether or not it benefits a particular party. In the next breath he says he's "so proud" of his party, "the party of ideas." Click! I didn't want to hear another word. How can he be so stupid as to say something like that? Doesn't he realize he was going to alienate a whole lot of people by saying something as stupid as that? Why do we have an imbecile in the White House? I've gotten damn sick of politics in the USA.

yea, that happens to me to.

Why is that though? Where does that feeling stem from, especially knowing it's someone else who is embarrassing themselves?

any psychology majors?

Yes. It's quite odd really, I feel like it's all my fault someone is messing up and everyone is looking at me for it. I've never understood it.
