With Christmas almost here, do you ever get the feeling that you really own all you need?

I mean with the newest gadget, it's going to keep your attention for a little while and then the next newest one comes out and the process starts over again.

I always had the latest gadgets....that was until I found that 95% of them were actually useless toys and had no real purpose. Since then, I've not bought hardly anything new....I got rid of my cellphone 2 years ago because I wanted to see if I could live without it. Turns out, I'm a lot happier because I don't have to keep up with it, charge it, talk to people I don't want to talk to....etc...

I didn't need my 24" and 23" lcd monitor (not for xmas)...or my $2.5k bike...cheaper stuff would have done the job with less of the 'niceness'. I felt like treating myself on the bike since some mofo stole my last one.

I would love to get rid of our cell phones, but the wife won't let me :)

1000+ DVDs, 4 computers, 3 with dual flat panel displays. 4 televisions, 4 TiVos (including one that doesn't work) 5 or 6 MP3 players. I think next year will be the clear out year.

When we moved to a house without a basement we went through everything and donated 5 or six vans full of stuff. We vowed to live more simply and have done so for about three years.

It's been much more pleasant.

I toiled over what to buy someone for Christmas, then ended up getting something even better for myself. I enjoy getting people good gifts, not socks or gift cards, so naturally, I want to feel some of that. Even if I end up rubbing my own feet, at least I get in the spirit of things.:)

What's your point? I own more than I need, since all I really need is a bed, a microwave and a change of clothes. That's no way to live.

Nope... it's called eBay and it clenses your apartment.

That's not to say that I couldn't live with less ( trade the 50" plasma for say a 42" one etc) ... but what else would you do with money? You only live once...
