Do you ever favor one leg when you walk?

I am totally clueless as to who I would go see for treatment for something like this.

I favor my right leg when I walk or do anything physical. It's like I started to use my right leg as a cruch. It's irritating and my right leg gets fatiged rather quickly.

Now my question is who would I see for something like this?

Chiropractor? Physical Therapist? MD?

It's frustrating because I have no idea what is causing this pain that stretches from my hip down to my ankle.

I would love some suggestions on who would be able to treat this best.

See an MD. If needed he can refer you to an Orthopedist or have the PT's work with you for a while.

MD > PT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>&gt
>>>>>>> Chiro
I'm sure there are also MDs that SPECIALIZE in joints or bones or something that could be related to your condition. Which is WHY you see a doctor first so he can get an idea of what is wrong and send you to someone that can really help (if he can't).

See already I have people who recommend a good chiropractor, and others who swear by only using an MD. What about Orthopedist, or Physical Therapist?

I mean its nothing severe where I can't function, but its annoying and I want to correct it.

in HS I had a really bad problem with my ankle where it would essentially swell up and hurt like hell, which was due to what essentially turned out to be very flat feet and a growth spurt. But I out grew the problem and my ankle is fine now but I still favor my other leg to the

My doctor flat out told me in our first visit he does not give referrals to Chiropractors.

It almost feels like my right thigh muscle and calf muscle are very tense, but I would love to know what causes this.

Id' try a Chiro. But get a good chiro and not one that thinks he can cure your allergies from chiro work :Q

One of my best friends is a chiro and he has help me with wrist problem and hip problems. Took only a couple visits and he showed me some exercises that would help my conditions.

Cheers,

Because Chiropractics is based on complete nonsense. The theories that spawned it claimed it could cure diseases, mental illnesses... any ailment.

There ARE good Chiropractors out there who don't believe in all that nonsense. If you DO go see one, at least make sure he's competent enough to take X-rays before he starts hammering on your bones. That said, Chiropractics don't provide a cure. If your bones are out of place there's a reason for that. Chiropractics doesn't fix the problem, it just moves the bones into more comfortable positions that they will undoubtedly move out of again. Hell, I'd go see a masseuse first. You'd be amazed at what a little muscle relaxation can do (plus it doesn't pose the risks of Chiropractics).

Most likely your hips are twisted or your pelvis are higher on the right side. A good Chiropractor can adjust that in two visits. Activators are for wimps. I had a similar problem when I drove a 5 speed Dodge Neon. I am too tall for the seat and all of the clutching twisted my hips. Sold the Neon and got an automatic truck with plenty of leg room.

Yeah I am all about massages. But our medical group has a masseuse that charges $50 for 50 minutes. I guess thats a decent rate?

Go to a rolfer.

The problem with a chiropractor is that once they move your bones back into place the myofascial connective tissue that connects your skeleton together will just pull them apart again in a week.

Wow, what you say actually is the best explanation/description of what I am experiencing. I definitely feel a tightness in my right hip and I would be amazed if a Chiropractor could adjust it so I didn't feel this pain in my right leg.

Possibly Patello-femoral pain syndrome. The tenseness in your muscles is most likely caused by the way you favor your knee. See a PT, not a chiro.
Chiros should really be a last ditch effort for long-term chronic pain after all other options have failed.

I doubt I have a deteriorating knee but I feel like either my hip is twisted or something because all the muscles in my right leg are much tighter than the left and I can feel a dull throbbing pain in my right calf, thigh, and butt cheek.

Here's the options as I see them:

Go to an MD - he/she gives you drugs.
Go to a physical therapist - learn new exercises that might solve the problem and make you stronger
Go to a chiropractor - adjusts misalignments in the body. Repeats for a while until the body accepts the fix. Might solve your problem and other unknown problems.
Go to a massage therapist - relax for a while and feel your muscles relax. Feels good in the short term, not likely to fix anything long term.

I have done all four. The chiro was the most effective by far.

DAGTA, thats a pretty nice list and rather realistic I must say. I doubt however my MD would give me drugs for a sore leg, and I wouldn't accept them if he did. Would an orthopedist be able to do anything?

Probably more than a general MD.
