Today I was in Walmart shopping. Can you believe in a 20 minute time span, I counted 17 different people doing the cell phone walk and talk while pushing a cart around. That drives me nuts! Why do people (not you people, but the walmart shoppers) insist on trying to push a cart while on the cell phone?? Sorry to say, but you look ridiculous while you do it, and you are in my way.

I think we should be able to grab the phone out of their hands and throw it across the store. OK, so that does not really solve anything but it would make me feel better anyway.

We all have cell phones, at least 90% of us do....I never use my phone in public, why does everyone else think it is ok to be obnoxious and get in everyone elses way? Has anyone else had this problem?? Perhaps you are one of these people that feel it is ok to do this, what are your thoughts??

Well I'll stop if I can't handle what I'm doing + cell phone. I hate people who walk and talk and jaywalk and slowly stroll across the street because they don't know its a GREEN for me.

I call in the supermarket sometimes because I have to buy stuff for my roommate or some other people want me to grab stuff for them, etc, but I'll usually pull over or something so I don't crash into other people with my cart.

Maybe you're just mad at the idiots that can't handle doing two things at once?

I think it's detremental (sp?) to society to have people on their cells at all time. You're never gonna interact with new people while you are away from those you already know if you are being a tool on the phone with those that you already know.

plus, it's ridiculous to openly speak around strangers when you are on a private call. Nobody that is worth anything cares that you only went to college because that horse died.

I can see your point DL, but the big problem is that most of the time people are not paying attention to anything around them aside from the person that they are gabbing too. If you can successfully navigate a store while on the phone, then maybe it is ok...I still don't like it, but at least you are not in anyones way. But for the most part they are just taking up space, and wasting everyone elses time.

Oh well it is rude, but when you think about it, I guess that is what americans are as a society.... What about people in other countries?? Do suffer from the same problems with cell phones??

I don't think there's anything naturally wrong with walking and talking, isn't the point of a cell phone that you can talk from anywhere?

That said, many people have trouble focusing on other things while talking. When somebody does something crazy on the road, 9 times out of 10 I look over and see them chatting away. The same phenomenon applies even when they're walking instead of driving, except the things they do are less dangerous though just as annoying.

i respect that, but soooo many people don't, and thats really where the problem comes from....If they would give the people in front priority, then it would not be so bad, however the masses do not...

When I see people driving and talking on their phones I try to mess with them as much as possible.
It's mean spirited and usually illegal, but I don't give a ******.

I think its perfectly fine to use a cell phone in public, unless by use you mean some sort of sex act or violently slamming it against another persons skull, then, not so much.

I am an IT consultant and my cell phone basically provides me with my livelihood.

I am certainly not obnoxious or garish when I use my phone in public. I know of a lot of people that are. I try to be considerate to people around me, but there a LOT of times when I am working with a customer and I happen to be in a public place.

The fact is that people are not going to change. The use of cell phones in public places is only going to increase.

Let me tell you about the downfall of America.

Ipods, Cell phones, and MTV.

Everybody these days think they have to be "busy" to be cool. So everywhere you go, you will see people pretending to text people on their cell phones, or pretending to talk to somebody on their phones as they walk around with no where to go. Those who get bored of the cell phone, will then pop in their ipod earphones and stare off into space. This is causing people to forget how to communicate with other random people they meet day to day. Every day as I wait for the bus to take me to campus and back, I'm surrounded by several girls I would love to approach. However, they all think they're the sh!t, and make themselves unapproachable by faking a phone conversation or by listening to their ipods

I don't even need to explain MTV.

Before you get your panties in a twist, did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe, one of those people forgot something and was simply calling their spouse/SO/gay lover to remind them.

Jeez, some people are so easily upset.

Oh, and 1/10 for a really really weak rant...

Now imagine those same people trying to drive their cars while on their cellphones. Scary thought, isn't it?

If I get a call while driving I will pull over if it's not a 1 minute deal.

I have been behind ppl for 30 mins+...they seem to know when you want to pass them.

I send them offroad.

This is a better rant than the OP. I noticed a few years ago when I was looking to meet girls that every one I would consider approaching was on a cell phone conversation at the time. For all I know, they deliberately do that so that no one approaches them. It worked for me... it's hard enough to walk up to a girl and essentially sell yourself to her without asking her to end her phone call first.

Weak rant?? umm, it is an opinion, not a rant, for the most part i think that people agree with me, my guess is that you are one of these people that i speak of. Yes good point about calling your gay lover, I know sometimes you forget which type of ky jelly he likes, but thats ok really! I am talking more about the people that are on the phone the entire time they are in a store. Big difference there pal, big difference!

They were enumerating possible people to call. No one insulted your manhood or questioned your sexuality, don't worry.

And these seventeen people you counted, you followed them all around and made certain they were "on the phone the entire time they are in a store"? Yeah, sure.

As for me, I get way too confused trying to do more than decide which laundry detergent to pick, let alone talk to someone at the same time! Science H Logic, if I can accomplish two things at once, bet your ass I'm going to try. Grocery shopping is boring enough.

with cell phones, when you talk on them, just don't get too personal in public or when others are around, if you have to, make sure it doesn't offend anyone around you.

don't use any racial slurs or profanity when you're on the cell phone 'cuz if someone around hears you. man, it makes you look so bad when you do it... good hell.
