Do you ever accidentally answer your home/cell phone with your work greeting?

I answer it with my name like I do at work.

I'm not a secretary so I'm not as elaborate like you.......

nope,no work greeting.

normal answer to house phone, Hello.

Work phone is a Nextel, and I can see who is calling,
so the response varies.Usually i answer : "yeah?" to my boss.;)

mine are the same as well ...
usually "Hi, this is Brian"
or "Hello, this is Brian"
and every now and again, depending upon who's on caller ID. I'll answer annoyingly saying "WHAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZUP" like in scary movie.

I usually look to see who's calling on my cell phone, so I'd be retarded if I answered it with my name like at work :)

lol, reminds me, I gotta watch this movie again. It's been a month since I last watched it. Can't get enough of it. Any chance of them making Office Space 2?

To answer the OP question, no I don't. I hate the stupid formal greeting we have to do at work. Got to be "professional".

I was talking to my wife one time about work when the phone rang, and I was in uniform. I picked up the phone and gave my unit and rank/name. It was a Japanese guy (was in Japan) so he was too polite to comment, but my wife cracked up at me.

I don't have that problem. I'm constantly dialing "9" first at home though.

I work for HSBC bank - I once answered my cell phone with "HSB...aww crap dammit, hello?"
It was my mom.

My job doesn't require me to use the phone, but I have been known to answer both my cell and the house phone with accents. :D

"Eastland-Fairfield Computer Support Services, this is Andrew speaking, how may I help you?"

I've answered my phone incorrectly before, but it's rare... but my greeting depends upon the time of day & what caller id says.

For example, if one of my associates calls me at 3 AM... it's something like "This had better be important..."
If a friend calls, it's "Why are you calling this late? Are you OK?"
If my parents are calling, it's "Satan here, what in he11 do you want?"

i never was a big phone answerer, but in instances where i had to be (or where i assumed another identity, as in the case when i was a private investigator), i never had a problem in different situations.
