Do you eat while you drive? *Poll*

I think my eating and driving has gotten a bit out of control I was trying to chow down some nachos today got kind of messy. I'm always dripping some crap on my shirt, there really is nothing I won't eat while driving, I apply sauces and ketchup, salsa or what ever condiment is available. I know it's not real safe but I've been doing for so long I don't care.

I like my food fresh is part of it and I like the challenge!

How about you?

Yeah I'll be driving, steering with my knees all the while I have my plate with an 18 oz. steak + fully loaded baked potato, buttered dinner roll, and some veggies...the hard part is cutting the steak b/c for that, i have to wedge the plate between the steering wheel and my chest so that I can use both hands (fork and knife) to cut it. 😛

I hope you're joking. But, in case you're not, I do recall a few similar meals that I've had in the car. "oh no, dinner just gotten done, but I have to be 20 miles away in 25 minutes. I've gotta go now!"

I think the worst that I used to do regularly was write college papers while driving. I had a half hour commute to school, and MWF mornings one semester, I had to write a 2 page essay about something based on an American short story I read the day before. Since I didn't want to waste my 30 minutes doing nothing, I wrote all but 1 of the essays while driving. I pointed out to my prof that consistently, about 2/3 of the way down the back side of the paper, there was some really sloppy handwriting - "that's the rough section right before the offramp. They really need to repave it there." The look on his face when he realized I was serious about actually writing them on the way to school was priceless.

Sometimes I'll have a dog, burger or fries on the run. I try to avoid stuff like fondue though.

Funny, I never thought of Fondue but if I could get it at a drive though I'd try it!

Your prof accepts hand written paper? Is he mad? Do you know sh1tty most people's hand writings are?

yes, i will eat a cereal bar or something solid but not something like a burger or nachos.
i just don't want to get messy in the car

No, I prefer to actually sit down and enjoy my meal in front of some kind of sport, I don't know why people are satisfied with just putting things in their stomach without really enjoying it.

only if i can't help it (like I don't want it to get cold or I'm in a rush)... i typically drive with just my left hand anyway, but eating is a different story... you're reaching here and there and taking your eye off the road too much.

I don't eat while I drive, but not because of safety considerations. I just like to be comfortable while I'm eating, and I don't find driving and eating at the same time to be comfortable.

Yes I was joking 😛 No way in hell would I be able to do something that dangerous and stupid like eating a full dinner like that.

LOL can't believe you wrote your essays while driving...that is nuts heh.

Yeah, but I live in the middle of nowhere. If you're ever on Rt17 (now interstate 86) in western NY along the PA border, you'll know what it's like driving there. The density of cars is roughly 2 or 3 per mile. Typically built interstate - 4 lanes, 2 each way, separated by 50 to 100 yards. Exits here are 7 or 8 miles apart. Other than deer, and icy patches in the winter, there's not a whole lot interesting, and even less to worry about running into while driving.

edit: And the prof only collected the papers and marked if they were done or not done. It was a daily assignment. If it had to be electronic, I'd have finished the paper on a laptop long before I hit that rough patch on the road 😛

No. I'm not worried about the danger but I think it's gross............and attracts ants and other creepy crawlers.

You attract ants...IN YOUR CAR? My god, I hope to never see your car.

I eat and drive, but only stuff I can hold in one hand.
