the bottom of a piazza, I'd imagine, is typically some type of brick, stone, or concrete
regarding the edge of a pizza... it really depends on the pie. if it's a good pie and I've got some excess grease/condiments (salt, red pepper, etc) on my place, I'll sop it up with the crust and eat it.
Always. People who don't eat crust were whiny kids that had indulgent parents who let them get away with nonsensical food preferences, like cutting the crust off their pbj sandwiches.
