if it's not cold or hot or super humid, yes. 85 and not humid, there's a good chance of the windows being down.

on highway if it's nice out i'll crack the passenger side windows, gives a nice circulatory breeze. also crack the roof open.

Usually cracked just a little, except yesterday. If it's comfortable enough to drive with the windows down and not feel uncomfortable then the windows are down at any speed below 40mph.

A crack. Too loud with full down (wind + cars). I've tried driving with ear plugs, but it feels weird - you can still hear sirens. Oh, and the windows do shit, just A/C it. Screw the gas. If you've ever taken your car to get a cup of coffee or went for a joyride, then get over yourself.

The conventional wisdom AFAIK is to not do it at high speeds if you can help it. I'll do it for ventilation/cooling if I need it. Will roll up if I smell nasty exhaust or see it coming.

What's with all the people who think they're so cool because they're rolling on giant chrome wheels with all the windows down even when it's 100 outside?

those SUVs with the 24" + rims and the windows down are usually so you can hear their music i think. also, how could you see how cool they are if their windows were up and all you could see is their limo tint?


my truck rolls on stock steel rims and windows down for the most part. im a smoker, as well as being a bit claustrophobic. windows up will usually make me uncomfortable within a few minutes. even when its raining i have to keep a window cracked so i can hear the wind rushing.

and on a side note, ive never heard about the headliner getting messed up by a lot of wind. ive put about 150k on my truck, a lot of that as 65-75 on freeways and have no headliner issues at all. except for the kid hand prints and stuff like that.

Yes, almost exclusively. It has to be 90+ and even then only in town will I use my A/C.

My dad was an engineer for GM. They had to precisely calculate how many times a window switch and motor or moon roof motor would last. If they could manufacture a switch that cost a few pennies less that lasted 4,000 cycles instead of 10,000 cycles, that multiplied over other items on the car would create either a higher profit or a cheaper to purchase vehicle. Everytime I think about pushing the window or moon roof switch, I think about how expensive it will be to replace it, how much time in the shop the car will be out of commission, and how many other things the mechanic might screw up while trying to fix a window motor. For the most part, I leave my windows and moon roof pretty much closed all the time both winter and summer. I have yet to have a switch or motor go out.

In my 98 Altima, the window switch and motor have been activated who knows how many times, especially when you take into account how often I've been sitting and waiting and just playing with the switches out of boredom. Haven't had a problem with them yet.

Myth busters are totttal idiots too, sure they do a few tests but they dont do enough control on the tests. LIke maybe window partly cracked window half way down. sure all your windows all the way down prob mess up your gas mileage, i saw that episode too.. you have to be insane to have all ur windows all the way down, the worst thing is that over 60 with your window all the way down will damage your hearing.
