Do you drink something with all your meals?

I do, its milk for most dinners at home, or a soda with food when eating out. Or soda bringing home fast food once and a while.

Yeah. Its actually a well known way that people have a difficulty with weight (i.e., they always have something to drink when they're eating, and then they associate drinking something with eating; pop is especially bad, but there's plenty that are the same way with alcohol or milk or juice).

I know if I drink a pop, I practically have to have something to eat at the same time or else it makes me nauseous (yes it is incredibly stupid) from the sugar rush, and there's some food that its like I need to drink pop with or it doesn't taste right. I've made the habit of forcing myself to drink equal amounts of water to the pop right after ward which helps a lot and keeps me from getting refills of pop (like at a restaurant).

Of course there's the "which wine" with which food, where you match beverage to your meal. And there's plenty of other combos.

Sometimes, but not always. When going to In-N-Out I usually don't like to spend money on drinks, but I don't want the staff spitting in my food, so I'll take a drink when walking towards it, put it away before I am within ~500 feet, eat my meal, and then not drink again until I am sufficiently far away.

Usually water, btw.

So, uh, how does that prevent the staff from spitting in your food? Is this a frequent issue for you at In-N-Out and if so why do you keep going?

something with flavor, I drink water all day long but it overpowers food so I don't drink it with meals.

i usually don't drink anything with my cereal
That's about the only thing I don't eat with a drink, and even then I sometimes have something to drink with cereal.

For me it's water or pop with food, or milk when eating dinner.

water/pop. i gulp down a ridiculous amount of liquid when eating.

Is your food so bad that you have to wash it down?

Most of the time, I don't touch my beverage until I've completely finished my meal. I may have a few sips of whatever I'm drinking before I start to eat, but rarely during the meal. <shrug>

I actually understood what he meant by water 'overpowering' the food. I seem to like that fact, which is why I drink water a lot while eating. It's one of the enjoyment of eating for me, washing the taste with water. It's like I start from scratch after a gulp of water.

It cleanses the palate.
