Do you drink Oxygenated Bottled Water?

I'm just curious how many idiots buy into the "oxygenated" water trend that's been going around for so long. I'm especially fond of the ones that have diagrams of O2 and H2O molecules on the back... like some sh1tty diagram is gonna make me accept the oxygen they use is magically more soluble than what I'm breathing. 😛

Der. Most of it is just bottled tap water (Disani). Bottled tap water has to be the biggest waste of money I've ever heard of. What gets me though, is that these companies make rediculous claims like "there's more O2 in our water" to market their product.

Heh, no.

It's just more or less a marketing gimmick.

Sure, they could oxygenate the water before bottling it up.. But it isn't going to stay dissolved.

Basically all water is going to have some percentage of dissolved oxygen. The percentage is mostly dependant on the water temperature IIRC, but obviously cold water will not automatically have more dissolved oxygen.. it just has the potential to hold more.

Unless they mean that it has hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in it, which is doubtful.. considering it's generally not safe to drink. Not necessarily because of the H2O2 itself, but because it's usually contaminated with nasty heavy metals because of the way it's manufactured.

There are people that drink pure hydrogen peroxide(pure as in free from contaminants, not pure as in 100% full strength), as they believe the extra oxygen is good for you.

However, in my eyes, this is pure stupidity. It is O2 that is good for you, not oxygen free radicals. We're trying to keep the oxidation process within our bodies to a minimum, not encourage it. 😕

Anyway.. yeah. I live in Oregon, and I'm already paying for good water.. I don't need to buy water from the store that is of questionable quality, not to mention insanely expensive..

You think gasoline is expensive? Check out the prices of bottled water. :Q

I'll get back to you on that when I can drink my local tap water without boiling it first...

I really get a kick out of some, like Nestle, that add minerals back to the water for flavor 🙂.

Yeah, that's pretty dumb...oxygen is really a kind of nasty chemical. Eats away at EVERYTHING. I mean, considering we have catalase for the sole purpose of BREAKING DOWN H2O2 before it causes damage...

Bottled water is a complete waste of money and resources. Even in areas where the tap water tastes nasty...GET A FILTER.

It reminds me of decades ago when they'd sell you products with radioactive materials in them because people thought radiation was "healthy". Wow, people are stupid.

I love what it says on the back of the bottle

Paraphrased:
"during heavy exercise the oxygen levels within the body can become depleated. This water replenishes the body with this natural resource"

Um..... since when do we take in oxygen through our digestive system? Normally we just breathe!!!

Unfortunately, the local tap water contains so much excess flouride, it has turned my teeth brown twice.

I come from a town that supposedly has some of the best drinking water in the country, so I have to use a water filter or buy bottled water here in Maryland. I really just can't stand the taste of tap water.

NEWSFLASH

I can say anything I want and not back it up with data and that automatically makes it true. PROVEN FACT.

But bottled water sold in the US is not necessarily cleaner or safer than most tap water, according to a 4 year scientific study, Bottled Water: Pure Drink or Pure Hype?, made public by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC, 1999).

The thing to take away from that is that without testing a specific brand of water you don't know where it is in relation to tap water quality standards. It may be worse ot better. You don't know without testing.

Wait... flouride is what does that? I had that problem when I was younger too.

Bam.
Some of the brands out there are just bottled city tap water anyway.
