I've have fond, fond memories of Halloween as a kid. It was the baby boom and my densely populated suburban neighborhood was packed with kids. The blocks were lit with be-candled pumpkins like noboby's business.
You got one big shopping bag FULL of candy, then came back home and went out for another. Hell, only time constraints limited how much candy you could snag if you were willing to ever widen your route.
We got the next day -- All Saints Day -- off from Catholic school.
The night before was Halloween was officially Mischief Night. Lots of adults were "deputized" for duty, but it was all in good fun and nobody was arrested. It was a thrill avoiding the adults and pulling your pranks! Of course, certain types got as much as a week's head start on Mischief Night.
To top it ALL off, Halloween just happens to be my birthday! :awe:
