i just got this letter in the mail saying if i cash/deposit the $15 check, i will be enrolled in this "credit protector" program. i get a 30 day free trial, and after that i will be billed X dollars and yatta yatta yatta. i'm thinking about just cashing the check and calling to cancel immediately. if i call to cancel and they ask me why i want to cancel... if i gave them the honest answer (which is i just wanted the free $15), do you think they'll ask for their $15 back? hmmm....

No they are a rip off and a bitch to cancel.

Not worth the $15, maybe $50 or $100.

when u say a b!tch to cancel... u mean like AOL b!tch to cancel, or worse?

you're talking about the citicard one and yes i did it. i cancelled and it was a lil annoying but nothing too bad. not as bad as AOL but they'll try to sell you on the program and offer you all kinds of things. just say no politely and you'll be on with it

citi card, i guess?

cash it, why not? it is free money.

when I tried to cancel it, they offered me $50 rebate and $10 each month(some get $100 rebates). after it is done, I just cancelled it.

GO TO CASH YOUR FREE MONEY.

the other time, they offered me the drive american program. of course I cashed the check. right now, I pay about $7 a month for that program. 2 weeks ago, my sister had a flat tire, I used my card and got her car towed, FREE OF CHARGE. I like the peace of mind.

I also signed up for their credit monitoring service. I found out my credit score and cancelled the service. free of charge again.
