The USSR signed a non-aggression pact with the Nazis thus making them a "friend of my enemy" aka enemy by proximity. That's a question for the stupid only.
The informal Big 3 alliance of the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, and the United States emerged in the latter half of the war, and their decisions determined Allied strategy around the world.
19. Which of the following Shakespeare plays is not a tragedy?

I'm aware of the lend-lease program but didn't realize the NAP ended June 21, 1941 ... I thought it lasted a little while longer.Originally posted by: Lonyo

Uh... USSR signed a NAP with Germany which was broken in 41, andThe informal Big 3 alliance of the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, and the United States emerged in the latter half of the war, and their decisions determined Allied strategy around the world.
The US and USSR were allied eventually, so clearly they are more friend than enemy.
The US also supplied the USSR with a lot of stuff via the lend-lease program. You don't supply your enemies.
For the most part they were allies, or had nothing to do with each other. At no point were they enemies.

That was my stupid mistake when I compared dates. I mistakenly thought the pact extended 'till late '41 or early '42.Originally posted by: BigJ

Exactly. Also, the pact was pretty much done and over with when Germany attacked the USSR in June of '41.
The US wasn't officially participating in the war until 6 months later.
