Do you consider yourself more a citizen of America or a citizen of the world?

?

  • Citizen of country in which I reside

  • Citizen of the world

I answer a lot of polls and surveys and saw this unusual question for the first time. You can think of yourself mostly in a global perspective, but in the in end America > *

So I guess this must be the thinking of the mostly 25 and under crowd - that is to consider themselves more world citizens than of the country in which they reside.

How do you feel?

Citizen of America.
Since thats the only place that gave me anything. The "world" as it is, doesnt care if I live or die. And damn near everything I got I pulled from it, kicking and screaming. But America takes good care of me. I'd fight and kill for it.

people are people but i root 4 the home team
:awe:

People are people so why should it be, you and should get along so awfully?

I consider myself a citizen of the world. afterall I spent almost half of my life on the other side of the globe.

I can only be a citizen of the country(s) with which I have citizenship.

I also realize that there is nothing I, nor anyone can do to control the location with which they are born. Therefore, pure nationalism is idiotic and false.

...So I guess I'm not sure of the angle with which you are taking on this question.

you think "the world" cares whether or not you live or die any more or less than does "America?"

...and how does one become a citizen of America? Are you saying that you only care about the western hemisphere, and consider yourself a citizen of the western hemisphere? That's pretty cool, mang. To have an entire HEMISPHERE do so much for you, and actually care about YOU. That's like the most popular person...ever.

Thats so incredibly stupid I dont think I can respond with an intelligent comment.

Take care buddy. I love you.

First and foremost I am a citizen of the city I live in and the State of Florida. Florida is currently a member of the United States so right now, so am I. If speaking about the intergalactic community you could say I am a Terran but I hardly consider myself part of any "global society" as none such really exists at the moment.

World citizen. I hold no allegiance to the coordinates I was born.

But you are fully willing to take advantage of the resources and opportunities the people who came before you built and made available at those coordinate. 🙄

I am not sure why anyone would consider themself world citizen. I am pretty sure they won't be as qualified to be one than me. I am a passport holder of US and UK. I consider myself a US citizen and EU citizen.

I am also qualified to get one more Hong Kong passport (a chinese passport). I dont consider myself a chinese citizen but chinese gov't considers me a chinese citizen.

The question is open to interpretation. To me it's more about mindset and perspective. e.g. do you tend to think with the perspective of the culture and political interests of the country in which you reside, or do you tend to think with a more global, politically neutral and culturally diverse perspective.

I don't think the question is supposed to be interpreted in a legal sense.

To me, that just mean you are more open minded.

Canadian citizen. People who refer to themselves as "world citizens" are usually snooty elitist liberals in my experience.

When I was 10 years old I would have said America.
When I was 20 years old I would have said the world.
When I was 30 years old I would have said the world.
Now I'm in my 40s and I say America.
When I'm 50, 60, and 70 I'll probably just say me, me, me.
