I just find it odd that so many people can live with the same car for so long.

I was bored with my prelude after 3 years, I just wanted something new. I'm bored with my Civic Si now and I want another, newer Prelude. I had to get rid of my Trans Am because of insurance costs from too many tickets, but although I loved the LT1 in that car, the tranny had to be rebuilt after 40,000 miles. Which is disgraceful and definetely the norm for auto tranny's made by GM that can't handle lots of power.

I always thought someday I'd want another Trans Am or Camaro but I just wont consider it any longer because of resale value.

If I could afford it, I'd have a new car after every 3 years regardless of what I had. If I get a promotion I'm going for at work, I might even skip the Prelude and buy a 2004 or 2005 G35 instead. I just don't like making payments on cars because every car I've ever owned, from the very first car I got at 16 has been paid for with cash. But even if I get that G35, a car I want more then just about any other that I've wanted in a LONG time. I know I'll want something new after no more then 5 years.

Luckily, almost every car I would want has good resale value - I just have to for go getting another Trans Am, Camaro or GTO or GM car. I just refuse to lose so much money from such an expensive acquisition as buying a car. And I'm a little suprised that the poll turned out the way it did

well a car is just a means to get to place to place. I really don't need a status symbol. Granted i do buy semi-nice vehicles such as a taurus or Accord.
