Do you consider mobile app banking safe?

My bank has just released a mobile app for Android, and I was wondering what the consensus was in regards to safety. I know that malware does exist on Android that can steal passwords, but I am not sure if this would compromise an app that should be secure.

What are your guys thoughts?

Thanks,

if you're not rooted, an application can't access another application's data. they are sandboxed.

stay away from downloading no-name apps and you should be fine.

Never used them.
I've never needed to access banking "on the go" anyway. What will I need to be checking how much is in my account for? It's not like I live paycheck to paycheck.

I should mention though that I do use my stock brokerage's app(only on 3G and my home or family member/friend's WiFi network).
I don't use my stock brokerage app at those public wifi hotspots. Call me paranoid if you will.

Again, I haven't needed to access online banking on the go.
Trading stocks? Sometimes.

I do. Use both checking and the credi card apps. And vanguards app

I actually like vangiards app if I'm just checking what my account has done for the day. Log in and its one click to see how each fund did that day.

The chase app is nice for paying my credi card. Find it easier than online actually. Won't let me pay my mortgage though through it.

Checking app....I use it usually just to see if chase has actually taken the money yet (seems like they take a couple days to do it after they said its been paid). Also moble deposit for actual checks is nice too. Deposit a check in minutes without having to go to the bank not that I get many checks

It's all nice for quick checks on funds and the such.
