Do you consider cinnamon a type of mint?

I never really thought of cinnamon as a type of mint, I always think of mints as things like peppermint, spearmint, wintergreen, etc..

So when my friend asked me for a mint awhile back and all I had were some cinnamon flavored candies I looked at him all weird and said "I have cinnamon flavored candies, but no mints" and that lead on to one of the dumbest arguments of my life.

What do you think?

It's a spice maybe, but not a mint. Maybe a cinnamon mint is what he meant? Like an altoid or something?

Cinnamon in tablet form is just nasty. In the rest of the world it is used for baking....cinnamon roll anyone... and it's tasty.

Cinnamon is the bark of a tree. Mint is the leaf of a plant.

You should consider buying your friend a dictionary and urging him to use before making an idiot out of himself next time.

(Reminds me of the time a friend of mine was arguing with me that birds were mammals... idiot...)

Did they both of you really argue over whether cinnamom is a spice or a mint? Seems more like he just wanted a breath mint. Orange isn't a mint but I consider it a mint when it's a orange flavor breath mint. I think it was just a case of overblown semantics.
