When I first got them like 5 years ago, I would clean them religiously. But now, I just use all-in-one no rinse solutions, which means I can my lenses out and just store them in solution. Very cool for lazy people like me.

I heard about some brand new contacts that recently came out that are like 4x as gas-permeable and are great for people with dry eyes... Im gonna ask my doctor about it when i go on monday... Maybe my eyes wouldnt suck so bad if i actually cleaned them...

No more . . . I just got inAcuvue lenses.

They are designed to be thown away every 2 weeks . . . I just place them in their case, squeeze the "no rub" solution on full force to loosen debris and fill the case. In the morning, I rinse with plain sterile saline.

Well, you guys are more responsible than me :) I have disposible contacts, and I am supposed to throw them out every two weeks. I am also supposed to take them out when I go to sleep. But, I have been wearing my current contacts since november 5th, and I haven't taken them out. I go swimming with them in, I sleep with them in. They havne't left my eyes for almost TWO MONTHS!!!! :Q So far - i haven't had any side effects. The contacts are stuck to my eye - and they don't move (even if I push on them with my finger) :)

Well, just keep them in for another month or so . . . you are guaranteed to have side effects. Perhaps an eye infection where you will never be able to wear contacts again. Or some major eye damage . . .

. . . if you finally decide to remove them, soak them with a rewetting solution or just plain saline (on your eye) until they are easily removable.

I've been doing it for two years :) I think the reason why I haven't had any infection problems is because I just squirt the disinfecting spray in my eye in the morning. The stuff is called "Optifree Express - Enhanced disinfecting". It's meant to clean you contacts in the carrying case - but I just put it in my eyes.

I wear the daily's. I take them out once a week to clean. I will wear a single pair for about 2 weeks then pitch it.

Actually, there is a difference between "cleaning" and "disinfecting". If you use disposables, there is no reason to clean them as they are in the trash in 2 weeks.

However, you MUST disinfect them - unless you are irresponsible like rbloedow . . . and guaranteed it will catch up to him - or you risk very serious eye damage and even blindness.

i'm lazy, but when it comes to my eyes, i'm protective. I take them out every night and put them in their solution. If my eyes burn i just leave my contacts out for a few days.

<< Hey - I already said I was irresponsible! No need to reiterate it! :) >>

You did TWICE (and now this is the 3rd time)!

You seemed to be bragging. I just wanted to make EXTRA sure that you (and especially the others reading this) knew what a VERY dangerous practice it was.

LISTEN UP EVERYONE:

When I was 18-22 I wore my contact day and night. I would sleep with them in for about 1 month straight, then throw them away. I wouldn't take them out to clean them, just put drops in every morning. This was for about 4 years.

I went to get an eye exam when I was 23 and the doctor asked me if I was leaving my contacts in alot, I told him yes, and he said that there were blood vessels growing into my cornea or something. Damage that could never be undone. The eyes weren't getting enough oxygen, so they had to grow new blood vessels to try to keep up. So now he says that soon I may not be able to wear contacts anymore...

So TAKE THEM OUT AT NIGHT. You must let your eyes breathe! They need oxygen just like every other part of your body. For the love of god man, you don't want to be 40 years old and wearing coke-bottle glasses.

I don't wear contacts now, but when I did I couldn't sleep with them in at all. One time I took maybe a 2 hour nap with them in, and when I woke up I could barely open my eyelids.. the contacts were getting dry and sticky/tacky feeling, and my eyes burned. I had to put in rewetting drops and wait a while then take them out, and the contacts were ruined. It sucked.

I couldn't sleep in my contacts if I tried. By like 10 PM everyday, they start to get semi-irritating and my eyes feel better after taking them out. I also have a problem with chronic red eyes, it seems like evrything causes my eyes to turn red, whether it's closing my eyes for a few minutes or looking at a bright light while my contacts are in.

Everyone thinks I smoke a lot of weed. Maybe it's chronic dry eyes?
