I've been playing pool on yahoo games recently and think a lot of people cheat.
For instance if someone is making every shot but they never really move the stick. Or when it's there turn they pause for about 3 seconds then move the stick and shoot a perfect shot almost instantly.

Plus there are always people linking to sites that supposedly have cheat programs in the game chat room. I can't see why someone would ever download one of those programs, they are probably loaded with spware or virii(sp?).

You need to use a program to cheat at Yahoo pool? What you're describing COULD probably be attributed to lag, or it could mean they're cheating.

Hold an index card up to their monitor. :) I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to write a program to cheat, but I'm not sure why you'd WANT to cheat at Internet pool.

You can cheat at chess with Chessmaster 999999 and you can cheat at Literati/Scrabble with an anagrammer :)

That's because you don't know the rules of pool. Most people don't though. He would only lose if he SANK the 8 ball and scratched on the same shot.

Well some versions you loose just by scratching on the 8 itself. But what he said probly for the yahoo versions.

I was thinking about the possibility of mistaking lag for cheating as far as the stick movement. Usually when there is enough lag to cause the stick movement to only go from its starting position to the shot position, the ball movement is also choppy. I'm talking about when everything appears to be low lag except for the stick adjustments.

When you say "some versions" you're referring to typical house rules, which most people believe to be the actual rules of pool. They are not.

Have you thought of the possiblity that he sits there night after night playing and probably knows the ins and outs of the programming just from this? I mean, it's more of a simple java-based game, not an absolute science of game. There is the possibility that's he's just learned the quirks.

Stop being a sore loser. ;)

For those who doubt that there are cheat programs here is a message that is spammed all over the yahoo pool rooms:
New, FREE Yahoo Pool Cheat!
See what other people are using against you!
Visit: /poolcheats.cjb.net to get it
Totally FREE!!!

That site has a program called "pool buddy" that is supposed to draw a line from the ball to the hole so you have perfect aim. There are other sites spammed in the pool room but this is the only site I have checked out.

I've seen the spam in those yahoo pool chats for the cheats and i think its a waste of time if anyone want to cheat at that.

I gotta honestly say though that once u start playing frequently, the shots become alot easier to make... so there may be a legit player out there who makes alot of good shots and u just gotta accept that i guess, there's no proof of them using a prog. as far as i know.

a) why would someone want to cheat
b) why would someone get mad enough to complain about it.
