Do you charge your cell phone for 24 hours before using it for the first time?

I just bought a Motorola V180 and am anxious to use it. The manual states I should charge it for 24 hours before using it for the first time -- battery care I assume. When I plugged it in, it said "Charge Complete".

Should I still leave it plugged in for 24 hours?

They say you're supposed to but I forgot to do that for my ipod. Might have affected battery life since I don't get 8 hours.

It seems the Motorola V180 uses a Li-Ion battery, which -- AFAIK -- does not suffer from "voltage depression" (memory effect).

I'd still like to hear some more opinions/experiences though.

its not the battery you have to worry about, its the phone. The phone "learns" how long a charge will last. So if you don't charge it fully your phone will say its dead before it really is.
