do you change your voice when talking to people you dont know

ive noticed a lot of women in particular change to their "nice voice" when they talk on the phone with people they dont know well.

just wondering...i was making fun of a co-worker because he did it and I rarely hear guys do it

my voice is my voice, i dont change it when im on the phone

edit to clarify: I am talking about the tone/pitch of the voice, not if you are more professional or more friendly...

I have noticed that my mom has a "phone" voice, but she uses it regardless of whom she's talking to.
My fiancee also has a "phone" voice, but rather than a different tone, it's really just SCREAMING INTO THE RECEIVER! 😀
Thank God she doesn't like to talk on the phone.

Mine changes a bit -- I go into my generic "customer service" voice that I used when I worked helpdesk. I actually have a few different voices that I use almost unconsciously -- when I'm talking with my parents, a little twang works its way in (and is almost non-existant in everyday life), for one example.

I accidentally change my voice on the Xbox somehow when I play Tetris Live, and everyone's like "omfg you're f*'ing my ears change your voice!" and I'm all "Uhh I don't know how to" 🙁

My friend Brandon and my friend Cadman talk in a different voice on the phone, something to the effect of "I just woke up -11 seconds ago" And talk very quietly and softly like they just woke up, through the entire phone conversation. Makes for a very boring listen if you're not the one being talked to.

The Women I work with definately have their phone voices.....None of them are nice or hot, but they sure as hell try to be on the phone. It gets so pathetic.....

HIIIIIIIEEEEEEE!!!!! In their highest pitch squeely whiney thing....

I feel your pain with this issue and all these women who read this and say no, are phonies like the women I work with......

Of course Im not one to judge other people!

I have a professional voice at work and then a normal voice.

Most of the people I speak with though have learned English as a second/third language.

The only time I change my voice is if I'm talking to two specific people (sexy voice++) or if I'm talking to someone who's an emotional basket case (soothing/comforting voice++). I'm told that I have an excellent phone voice. Hzl_Eyed_Grl likes it a lot.

Im not really talking about the words used, as I am more professional also at work, but more the tone/pitch of the voice changes

Uhmmm Fvck no then?

😀

Apparently my voice goes up a couple octaves when I talk to girls (friends, gf, etc.). I thought I'd outgrow that, but apparently not yet! 🙂

My voice is always "nice" with strangers/customers. My voice is freaky feminine when I talk to animals (pets you perverts).

"Corporate Accounts Payable, Nina speaking.....Just a moment...." 😛

I am naturally cranky and I only put on a happy voice when dealing with customers. Otherwise I am very rude to talk to.
