Do you care about Star Wars any more?

This thread prompted my question.

I loved the originals but after that, the series sucked and I don't care any more. They're just milking it for all it's worth now.

episode 3 rejuvenated the series again and imo was the best of the six.

that said this shouldn't happen.

Can't argue with your handle Mike.

I watched them all one night for the heck of it (I had never seen a single SW movie before that). That was all.

Once the 6 movies were shown I have no interest in it anymore. In fact what got me into it were the special editions released. I played the card games and played the videogames religiously.

Jedi Knight games on PC helped pass the times between the 1,2,3 movies... but after that I am not that interested in force unleashed....and doubt ill get back into it.

You need to also add "I like the originals but the new trilogy has weaken my interest."

I would probably put that under "I still like it but it doesn't excite me like it used to."

That would be an unspoken endorsement of the new trilogy - and I just can't do that....

The new trilogy is total garbage....

I like it all, but I'm not like the guy in the first option.

I like all the movies.

Every time they're on any of the HD movie channels (which is often) I'll watch them again.

I've by far seen the original 3 way more than any other movies.

That being said, I'm not some giddy geek that dresses up like Darth Vader or anything.

It helps though that my wife likes them as much or more than I do.

George Lucas can't write for shit. He should have given someone else the job to write the 3 new movies. They looked good, it's just that the actors couldn't make the crap spewing out of their mouths palatable.

I still like Star Wars, but my interest is a lot less the past few years. I can still watch the Original Trilogy over and over, but the Prequels don't hold up as well.

Never cared about it. I have a friend who is crazy about it, but not so crazy that its all he talks about.

I watched 15 minutes of one episode and lol'd my way into a different channel.

EPs 4-6, in their original form, are some of the best stories shown on screen...ever.

No one can ever take that away.

And Lucas will always be great in my mind for those three. He lost his own mind with EPs 1-3, but oh well.

I'd love to play KOTOR 3 from either Bioware or Obsidian.

Lucas pooping out movie sequels? Not much interest beyond enjoying the visuals (which are done by people with talent, i.e. not Lucas).

I still like star wars, but not as much as when I was younger and before the new trilogy started to release. Granted I'm a sprat anyway at 21 years old, but the Original Trilogy was what tickled my interest as a kid, and I got engrossed in the Expanded Universe novels too. I had most of the ones that were released before the New Jedi Order series started to get released. I also had all the stupid big books explaining the ships, planets, races and all that crap too. I started writing some fan fiction before I knew what fan fiction was(never got more than 3 or 4 pages out though) and played the crap out of the old flight sim games too. And then, I just kind of moved on, and never really looked back.

I've seen the original trilogy, and don't own a single copy of any of the new 3. I've got the old Trilogy on DVD and EVERY now and then I'll pop it out and watch it, but I've moved on.

I love how people bitch about Episodes 1-3. If they had been the first ones that started in the 70's, and 4-6 came out in the 90's, and were exactly like the original 4-6 were, but with better effects, everyone would be saying how much THEY sucked and how great 1-3 were.

Nothing that has a sequel 20+ years later is EVER going to be considered as good as an original that was a huge success, no matter how good the sequel is. 1-3 were not bad at all. To me, watching 4-6 today, they're about the same as 1-3, just with less CG. And I was a HUGE Star Wars fan....I saw the original in the theater 13 times.

No, I think the prequel 3 would still suck. Why? Both trilogies had their share of bad acting and silly dialog but the prequels were just stiff as hell and without an ounce of charm. Now compare that to the original 3 (especially Empire and Jedi which didn't have Lucas directing) which had lots of charm and humor. The interactions between Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Chewbacca, and Mark Hamill were great for a sci-fi adventure movie. Even the droids had their moments. The prequels had none of this and the forced humor with Jar-Jar and the droids fell absolutely flat.

Don't even get me started about how the prequels turned the baddest mofo in the galaxy into a whiny emo brat.

You'll also notice something very distinct between the prequels and the original. The prequels were all written and directed by Lucas. Lucas only directed and wrote one of the originals (Star Wars).

And yeah, I care about the original trilogy. And some of the comics and books I read (didn't read them all) were enjoyable as were the games. But the prequels just progressively turned me off to the point where I didn't even bother to see Revenge of the Sith in the movie theater.
