No, if I am not feeling well, we are asked not to come in (hospital) so we have the option of working from home. If I am so sick I do not feel I can work even from home, then I take a sick day.
The extent of what I state is "I am not feeling well and won't be in today"; even when I am feeling well.
I do check emails throughout the day and respond to important ones.
Every time one of my mistresses was giving birth I'd show up, sometimes having to use sick time. I feel it's important to be there whether the child is legitimate or elsewise.
No. Abusing policies is why they end up being policies in the first place.
My last employer gave us sick time. But you only could use sick time after your burned your first day from the PTO bank. So you would get sick, burn a PTO, and then you were in the bonus round of Sick bank.
No one ever sick for just one day. That lasted for years and then they pulled the policy and made it three days of PTO before you got into the sick bank.
I picked only on rare unavoidable circumstances - but, it is for job interviews. I never call in sick for partying too hard,.. there is never such a thing as "too hard".
I get to work from home 2-3 days a week so those are my "sanity days" where I get to sit around in my pajamas. I maybe play hooky with a sick day once a year at most.
I don't think I've ever taken a sick day. If you really are sick, yeah, don't come to work. I don't want your germs. If you're just hung over, suck it up buttercup.
I rarely call in sick. I think I've used maybe 3 sick days in the 4+ years I've been working here and I would have been useless if I had come in on those days.
Congratulations people. You're the perfect corporate bitch boys. I'm sure the guy working till noon and smoking hundred dollar cigars at the golf course appreciates it.
