Do you buy books with Idiots Guide to... or ...for Dummies in the title?

Only one I've bought was Guitar for Dummies. Hoping to learn some theory but I still haven't. Too goddamn lazy.

I like those books though, I've used a few for programming/web design stuff.

heh when i got married my sister go t me "sex for dummies". I also got "cooking for dummies" and "children for dummies" when my wife was pregnant.

the cooking and children book are good basic books. the sex one was kinda dumb

Sure, I have an entire bookshelf full of those. Funny title, but they are great primers. I use them for getting up to speed quickly in any new field of interest.

I bought HTML for dummies a LONG time ago and used it as a quick reference guide, but it's so beyond obsolete now.

I was the exclusive photographer for the book "Freshwater Aquariums For Dummies" that was published in Sept 06...got an 8 page color insert with 26 pics. My name is in the 3rd or 4th page. Its pretty sweet.

Yes, I have read several Dummies books. The publisher generally picks a well regarded expert in the field to write (or co-write) the book. The info is normally very good and contains both basic and advanced sections in an easy to read layout. I have and will continue to recommend the series.

But would I walk around the mall with one under my arm? No.
