Do you burn in your new notebooks?

Just got my first notebook, an HP zv6000, AMD 64 with all the cool goodies. It's sweet for sitting in my backyard.

Is it a good idea to run it under load for some time to "break it in".

I've got it running all day with "Marine Aquarium""

"Break it in"? Hehe...this isnt a Porche...I have a Dell 9300...right out of box I poured it on....gaming ...Burning movies...

You could run any of the futuremark products ( 3D Mark 03/05 ) for a few days. A couple of days running Prime95 or Folding@Home would stress the CPU.

No need to do that. Just run it - charge up and go - right out of the box. Burn in is a factory QC job. Only really applicable when you build your own system.

Hey that makes lots of sense.

I'm so used to burning in the computers I build myself.

I have Never bought a factory build computer period! This is my first notebook.

My first PC was one of the first PC kits available. Anyone remember PC Designs, IBM clones, circa 1984?

Thanks, corkyg
