Diamondback Wildwood. Slime tubes are horrible I would avoid them. Get good kevlar tires and regular thorn resistant tubes and you are good to go. As for only riding a few miles a day just about any bicycle will do.

Another good option. I had outstanding luck with Specialized Armadillos for winter tires.

Well yeah, the odds are low if you pay attention to PSI and don't run your tires to the cord. BUT that one time you pick up a little piece of wire/glass, you're going to kick yourself for not having the slime tubes. Naturally, that will be the day it is raining or something....it never fails.

I'm all about having a battleship for a commuter. It just needs to get me there and back.

Yah, I can't commute by bike anymore. Too far away from work now.

And it never rains here so that wasn't something I had to deal with much. It only takes me a couple minutes to change a tube.
