I don't believe in Hell, so it's hard for me to think anyone would be going there.

ditto... even if u were of catholic decsent do you think the ALL KNOWING person who created you and supposedly loves everyone equally would send you to the depths of hell... dont think so.

Ignore my comments if you're not interested. :)

Nobody likes the idea that they are not free to do what they choose. We're offered the option of being in a relationship with God on earth, of living our lives in a way that pleases him. In a way we're living a gray zone with a bit of both heaven and hell. God offers us choice here on earth - if I dislike the idea of God, his way of life, his moral code, his whole setup, why would I want to spend eternity like that? And what kind of free will would I have if, no matter what I opted for on earth, I was forced into heaven anyway? That isn't free will at all.

So, I think an all knowing God set up a logical universe where people truly are free to choose whether they want to be with him or not, and where I can have total control over what happens to me for eternity.

Where did you ever get that notion? God wipes away our sinful natures in heaven, not our free will. We will have no desire/want to sin in heaven, in fact, it will not even enter our minds.

But see, looking at it the way you described (as opposed to the way HotChic described) is exactly how I came to my conclusion.

If God "wipes away our sinful natures", as you state, so that "We will have no desire/want to sin in heaven" hasn't he taking away our ability to decide? He essentially took away part of what makes you you. He took away your choice, ergo there is no free will in heaven.

I think RapidSnail and I were getting at the same point. I don't see any Biblical basis that we won't have any awareness of sin or choices though - in fact, I see just the opposite. For one, even the angels in heaven had a choice (that's how Satan was created) and there are also somewhat allegorical tales that describe discourse between ordinary people in heaven and hell.

RapidSnail, would you say that the "would not even enter our minds" phrase was intended to be more hyperbole or literal when you wrote it?

Given that there is no evidence whatsoever that such a place as "ATOT" is anything other than figments of our imaginations, I think such speculation is utterly pointless.

Corrected for clarity. Continue.

I believe Hell is separation from our Divine selves through free will (sort of a corollary to the Christian falling from Grace). So we are in Hell. I don't believe in the Judeo-Christian hell (burn baby burn) so I have no real comment on that. I do believe in reincarnation so if you say mean and spiteful things you will come back to work in the complaint department for Microsoft. MMM Karma baby.

Where is this hell you speak of? Many would say we are already there, and when we die we get to go to a better place. :)

Before I answered that, I would have to clarify my feelings on hell and that owuld take a hell of a long time...
