My 6 year old sister asked me this yesterday, when she came to visit and we had to tell her that our pet kitten "went to live with grandma".

It got me wondering if animals have a soul like people do...I mean really what makes them any different from us?

I would like to believe that Little Cliffy has his own vegi garden and a Gum tree to play in, where ever he is.

For myself and Michelle we feel a great loss, now that he is gone, which is funny when I was younger and still living with my parents, we had plenty of pet cats and dogs...if one died it was like "bummer..but oh well plenty more where that came from" (except when our pet rottwieler died when I was 16, who we had for over 10 years, I cried for awhile when she died).

But we only had our pet cat for 6 months or so...but we feel like a part of our lives in now gone, could this be grieving?

What does ATOT believe, I'm just curious to know?

If people have souls then so do animals. There is no possible other conclusion.....that is if you believe in a "soul" of anykind.

If you believe in all this stuff in the first place then the soul is gone and nothing but the body reamains. At least by eating it you are putting it to good use since it is an just a dicarded container. Burying it is a waste.

I'm saying that the other thread actually had 15% of people thinking that eating meat was wrong, and I thought that was funny. Chicken and fish are so fvcking stupid and really shouldn't be considered valuable life IMO.

People that believe it's morally wrong must cry a river when they accidently kill insects or call the terminator.

I believe animals have souls but I don't think that they are aware of it. It takes a certain level of inteligence to believe in things which, at the moment, only humans are capable of.

I do not believe that "souls" exist, period. I will consider otherwise if you can show me measurable, testable evidence that they exist and can affect the environment around them.

I was the same way, its seems that when I lived with my parents, the animals were just part of the commotion there, not somethig I viewed as a seperate entity.

But when the dog my wife and I got when we got married had to be put to sleep after 13 years, I was devastated. It was like part of our family was gone, a life that we had nurtured through good times and bad. I'm not going to say like a child, because I know it cant compare to losing a child. But it was really hard on us, even my wife still gets sad about losing that dog after almost 2 years.

Arrogance and a very old book I pesume. I don't even know what that book says about animals and souls.

" and to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is a living soul, [I have given] every green herb for food.' And it was so"
