I only use them where there are holes in the mobo, with the corresponding standoff screwed to the case. :hmm:

I use most of them, in the easy to reach parts. You really don't need to use ALL of them to keep the mobo securely in place.

I use all of them ... that are appropriate to affix the board to the standoffs and the case.

I use as many as necessary so that the motherboard is rigid and not flexing. I don't believe using all of them is always completely appropriate.

I use all of them, as long as I have all of them. One of my rigs had a board with only 6 out of 9 screws, but I would've used all 9 if I'd had all 9. Wow, this has to be one of the most boring posts I've written.

I use the screws to the area of the motherboard that allows the screw to be grounded.

So if the motherboard hole does not have any solder joints and is just plain glassfiber with no metal around it then I do not put a screw there.

Like SKORPIO, I use them all with standoffs and also add fiber washers under the screwheads to separate them from the mobo.

You don't want an ATX motherboard to sag in the middle and the circuits to touch the metal mounting plate???

I figure they designed the motherboard to be mounted using the holes they put in the motherboard. In reality the holes are in preset locations as designated by the Intel reference designs for all motherboards. It is an agreed upon standard for motherboard design. It insures when you buy a computer case that the holes in the motherboard and the case will match up.

If you are going to mount a heavy CPU cooler on a motherboard you might want to use all the mounting holes.

They use to use these plastic spacers under motherboards when the holes did not match up.

Don't need any screws.

I used a MITX motherboard that requires 4 screws so Yes I used all the mounting holes.

So you thought someone would say I just throw the motherboard in the case and tie it down with yarn?

As heavy as video cards are these days and other peripherals, I always use as many as the mobo has for stability and to prevent sagging or bending.

You shouldn't add any extra washers. The screws are meant to make contact with solder points around the screw holes for grounding purposes.

That is what I was going to say. They are grounding points to the case and should be washer free.
