I think I do. This girl "Mandy" I haven't seen for past several years due to some hideous things I heard about her.

She used to work at Banana Repub with my friend and Mandy would tell her she'd be visiting HK, Malaysia, Taiwan for the business trip. Of course all of us being 20-22, that really sounds nice and attractive. My friend would find her still working there during all summer.

Mandy told all of us that her father has a nice cruise by the harbor in Boston and we can spend the night having fun there during the 4th of July. She lied extensively to the point we all got ready to go (about 10+ people) and the boat was "mysteriously" unavailable all of a sudden, after a single mysterious cell phone call from her "dad". Totally ruining the night of ALL OF US. (kind of freaky IMO)

She always tells people she used to design flash website for www.venuboston.com and another friend of mine Eric tells me that she doesn't.

It's so sad that everyone stopped hanging around with her completely. A whole crew dedicated to stay away from her due to their bitter experiences..

Anyways, I saw her for the first time in 3 years at the halloween party last night. We were both glad to see each other. I'm personally cool with her since I was never directly involved with these incidents. Lots of people don't like her but I wasn't being an a$shole about it. She talked catching up and stuff and she tells me now that she's a Marketing Director for Viacom. She spends most of the time in Times Square, NYC and here in Boston.

She's only 22.

She's a nice gal I guess. But I don't understand why she has to lie about herself CONSTANTLY. It's not believable, and it's definitely not helping her look 'cooler'. I wonder what's the motive behind her psyche? Do you know any compulsive liars in person?

Aves and I have a friend that is a compulsive liar. He'll tell me one thing, aves another, and then someone else something completely different. I think he knows but doesn't care. You can call him on his lies and he tries to lie his way out of it.

I don't lie.

My memory is just too short to be able to pull it off, and it's just NOT worth it.

Same here. If I tried spinning the yarns I've caught other people in, I'd have them mixed up in less than a week. Hell, I can't even remember the facts, much less tall tales. :(

These sorts of people can be entertaining to keep around, you just need to make sure you can ditch them when they get too annoying.

I couldn't stand to be around people like that. I find lying one of the lowest things a person can do because if they're going to lie frequently they may as well not even bother talking. Without being able to rely on something somebody says as most likely being true you can't rely on them for anything.

Yeah a relative. He embarrasses the entire family. No one has had anything to do with him for years now.

I've known a couple of people like that. They're so desperate for approval they're willing to say anything to raise your level of respect for them. This girl who's a "marketing director" for Viacom, if she even works there, is probably just a "Marketing Coordinator" (corporate-speak for "go-fer").

I have a relative who is a compulsive liar about anything and everything. I don't understand this at all, especially when there is no reason to do so. She once told a group of her college friends that her father owned a country club and invited them to meet her there for a weekend and enjoy golf, tennis, swimming etc. at the club. They packed up and drove to the club, she wasn't there (of course), the friends were turned away since no one at the club had heard of her, and they had to head back to the college.

Of course, they were going to ask her what the hell happened when they got back. She lied again and said her father had somehow botched the arrangements and she was unavoidably delayed in getting there. She actually had the nerve to complain that they should have just waited there for her even though (1) she wasn't there and no one knew why; (2) the club people had never heard of her or her father; and (3) they told the group they do not have overnight guests under any circumstances.

Ask this question of everyone on the planet. If everyone is truthful, you will onlyget one answer.

Question: Do you lie?
Yes or no.

I know a few. Either highly insecure or completely self-centered. One of the funniest examples was this football player that lived in my dorm and would always (one on one) tell me these elaborates stories about numerous women chaining him to things and punishing him, because he was such a hot stud, etc. I always tried to flee when I saw him coming because he was obsessed with strip poker. Well, one of my roommates had gone to the same small high school as him, where everyone knew he was a hopeless virgin, and she couldn't stop laughing when I told her this. The fact that he was completely making up the stories was already pretty obvious, but it was nice to hear the "real deal" from her.

Yeah, I don't feel like coming up with more lies to support my lies. I rather tell the truth, much simpler.

I try as hard as I can not to. However, sometimes I will lie to be pleasant (i.e. not blatantly telling someone I don't want to see them ever again). I'm a very good liar and have only been caught once in a major lie, but I realized how much it was screwing everyone else over, so I stopped for the most part.
