I do, but I tend to worry the people on the other side sometimes for some reason.
I had a knock on the door on nite about 3 AM when it was raining and wnet to the door was a female police officer who took about 3 steps back and dropped her hand to her gun when I did. Seems they get bogus ones with lightning strikes sometimes she said and left, I thought they usually some inside to check things when they get those, but she didn't seem interested
I seem to have kind of a way of unnerving people when I come to the door disturbed it seems.
So, about 50 noes and a couple of yeses. I think this says more about ATOT nerds than the level of safety where we live. I think it's mostly about basement dwellers avoiding social interaction like the plague.
Answering the door for salesmen is to social interaction as MSNBC is to political news.
How exactly is my opening the door and telling a solicitor who is too stupid to read the no solicitor sign to go away keeping our society from self destruction?Social interaction is NOT a meaningful exchange of thoughts and ideas although it can be. Social interaction is the "grease " in the machinery of society that keeps us from self destruction. These forums are interesting as an example of isolationism viewed as a virtue.

It's always lupus. Every time I open the door for an unexpected caller there stands lupus.Because it may not be a solicitor.
It's always lupus. Evey time I open the door for an unexpected caller there stands lupus.

Sounds iffy. I better stick to social isolation.Think of it as practice. Being able to converse comfortably with strangers isn't something you're born with. Acquiring the skill increases familiarity and lessens conflict which raises safety and security.

Avoiding solicitors is anti-social? Do you really have a lot of people who just want to chat coming up and knocking on your door?
That's just it, the average ATOTer doesn't just avoid solicitors, they avoid everyone at least in person.
