Do you Americans have Bubbas?

No, i'm not talking about some big black dude in prison. I'm talking about the mini buba beer kegs, we have them here in Canada.. basically it's just a big can of beer, I think there is 14 beer in it or something. Anyways, I have one sitting in the fridge that is nice a cold and I wouldn't mind drinking it.. although I don't really feel like drinking 14 beer. Do any of you know how long I can leave it opened in the fridge?

you can buy some german beers in the mini-kegs, but as far as i know, no american beer producer packages their beer this way.

I wouldn't recommend drinking the beer over any extended period of time. the beer will go flat. The kegs also sometimes leak at the tap or the spigot. leave it alone until you have some buddies over to help you drink it all.

Yeah, you can get them here in Canadian beers.. but when I got mine, there was a limited selection. I got a german beer called Becks, suppose to be alright. I wanted a Labatt Blue or a Molson Canadian, but there was none left 🙁

Do you think it would be alright to drink it throughout a day? like have it open in a fridge for like 8-12 hours or so

Yea, Heiniken makes the mini-keg. The things is pretty big and could easily be 14 beers. If not more. So NEH!

after 14 beers you are not likely to be able to discriminate much, so go for it.

I saw someone put a computer in one of those, and I've been looking to do that with my MP3 player (it has a very ghetto case). But the problem is that I'm a near-broke cheapskate and I don't drink. Makes it hard to come across those.

Edit:
How large are they physically? (WxHxD)

Here in Philly theres a small local brewery that puts out the mini kegs that hold about 10 beers in them, comes with a mini tap for it too. They also have a restaurant here on 18th and Arch, Dock Street Brewery, where all the tables have a holder in the middle of the table for ice and a place for the mini-keg so you can tap it fresh right there at your table while you eat.

Pretty good stuff too.

i like the don cherry ones

too bad canadian comes in them.

though i love the song.
😀
and i still like the original "imagine finding meat" line.
sooooo good.

we have beer balls and pony kegs, they are about 5 & 7.5 gallons respectively I think, so siginficantly larger than your "mini-keg"

I love firing off a Bubba before I hit the bars, especially Sleeman Cream Ale. Yum.

Anyway, a Bubba is meant to sit refridgerated for several hours before opening. (Who can wait that long?) Once opened, the beer is meant to be consumed immediately. I've drank from a Bubba after it's been left open in the fridge all night, but they don't taste very good and the beer is quite flat by then.
