Do you ALWAYS use the Internet to research your purchases?

I always use Google or other tools to research my planned purchases but am amazed to see, on a daily basis that many people fail to use this valuable tool before throwing their money away. This phenomenon is most strikingly apparent at this website:

Infomercialscams

The site is burting at the seams with disgruntled customers who failed to do their homework ... and now post their complaints. I find it interesting that one of these infomercial "scammers" sued the site to gain personal information on those who had posted complaints against them (Video Professor). Now isn't that a kick-in-the-crotch to the 1st Amendment?

The best feedbacks for products and items in my opinion seem to all come from Amazon. The best is where I can pick at the not so great rated ones and see what bitches and gripes people have with them.

Consumer reviewed products seem to be the best for me when searching online. I get from their perspective how they use things and see if their use will coincide with mine and also to see the "gotchas" with products.

Then there are the official review sites and the like.

And I also like it when google gives me the consumersearch link where it compliles all the internet reviews into one big summary format on orders of best in particular classes and the breakdown as to why.

Yes, I always research what I buy online....sometimes a little too much! I always try to check out the user comments on Amazon/CNet/NewEgg etc before actually buying something...and it has saved me several times. I have never boughten anything from an tv infomercial....although some have piqued my interest until I did my due dilligance online.

Edit: As PT Barnum said "There's a sucker born every minute!"

Always? No, but for things I'm going to buy on the web...usually.

I don't have time to run home and research a purchase before making an impulse buy however...
