Do you always pay?

I know this is most likely a big 'R' but I was wondering when you take a girl out are you the one to always pay?

Do you always pay or after like a few times out you start splitting the cost?

I've been with my girlfriend for over 2 years, we've been about half and half on paying for things that we both use. Being courteous is one thing, but when you don't have money you can just as well share the cost together.

Whoever has money, or if it's some special occasion or "date", whoever invited the other. At least, that was my practice when I was dating. And I did my share, or more than my share, of the inviting.

When dating, I always paid. But now that my girlfriend and I have been together for 2.5 years, we usually either split the cost, or take turns (i.e., she'll pay for lunch, and I'll rent the movie and buy the food for the viewing, etc.).

Call me old-fashioned but as a gentleman I always pay. I'd probably still pay even if she was a millionaire. I dunno, guess I'm just a chivalrous kind of guy 🙂

What's your yearly date expense average? $10-20? would that include taking out your mom for her birthday?

No, more like $0 😉 But when I do take a girl out, I always pay. That's just the way I am. I probably spend too much, in fact.

I always pay except this one time. I was at the Witche's Brew in West Hempstead(kind of like a dark coffee shop, really nice place) with this girl and I'm normally a big tipper because I'm a waiter myself. So I leave the tip on the table, go to the bathroom, come out and proceed to go pay the check. Or so I thought. Turns out while I was in the can she paid for it and justified doing so because I left a $10 tip on a $12 check. That was pretty weird. On the way out, what made it even weirder, was the waitress stopped me and made sure that was what I wanted to give her.

If I was taking someone out on a date, usually I would check to make sure I HAVE money to pay. But if the girl gets really upset that I'm paying, I let her pay the tip. ;-) My trick of the trade.
