Do you all think Nvidia will release new Det. drivers that will increase the performence of the GF4 ti series video cards a lot? Like espically the GF4 ti 4600 ,etc? Like when the R250 and R300 come out the first day or no?

Maybe, maybe not. If they do I'd like to see some investigation to make sure they're not cutting any quality corners. They've done a good job so far but the tempation is always there.

They will continue releasing dets that will be optimized for as wide range of boards as possible, at this stage GF4 and also GF3 have the highest priority i believe. The latest drivers are 29.42 but you can also get "betas" from guru3D.

Guru3D files database

Performance should continue increasing for your GF4 :D

Edit: I use the 29.42 because i get better morrowind performance but 29.80(WHQL certified "betas") give me 400 more 3dmarks

How much will frame rates increase on a GF4 ti series video card? Like let say a GF4 ti 4400 or GF4 ti 4600 ? Only like 2 to 5 fps more at like 1600x1200 or no will it be a bigger increase in frame rates?

It depends on game and computer setup. Some have performance increase with newer drivers other have performance lost. Using det 29.80 gave me better performance in 3Dmark over 29.42 but morrowind had more FPS with 29.42.

I suggest you download and tryout the 29.80 or maybe other detonaters to see what drivers fit you best!

Use the link i posted above, the guru3D forum also has a room dedicated to detonater drivers if that would help... Don't bash me for advertising an other forum:)

Holmecollie ok but what if i install new nvidia det. drivers and don't like what they give me ? All i should do is uninstall them from add/remove in windows 2000 pro and install the ones i like or try some others? Just want to make sure because i don't want to mess up anything.

The chances of a new set of drivers reducing your performance is virtually non-existant, especially coming from Nvidia. IF it reduces a card's performance, WHY release them? Drivers aren't things you want to swap out repeatedly. They're too important to mess around with a lot. 95% of the time, a new driver update will not NOTICABLY increase or decrease your card's performance. If all you're looking for is the best possible benchmark scores, then stick with the most current driver set.

Stability. Nvidia has released drivers with slightly reduced performance in the past (IIFC the 5.x series timeframe). No big deal but it does happen.

30.xx driver is in testing, and will be released soon. How soon is anyone guess, but R300 launch is a good bet.

Yes, there are definitely detonator 5 drivers (3xxx) on the way and the main area they target is anisotropic filtering performance. We might have seen them with the Parhelia launch but since that flopped and didn't offer a threat to nVidia I expect the R300 launch is when we'll actually see them as it give nVidia more time to tweak and test them.
