Do you actually use Pay Per View or VOD?

I keep hearing how great Pay Per View and Video On Demand services are, but I'd much rather rent a DVD and have the acutal media in my hand to play a film. Buying a short-term service from my notoriously-unreliable cable conglomerate just makes me nervous.

Do you use PPV or VOD from your cable/satellite service?

I will use PPV or VOD sometimes, but also use Netflix.

It doesn't really matter. I can definitely tell you the reliablitiy of my cable connection doesnt worry me. The chances of the signal going out during a movie is slim to none.

Tried it out once through a free trial. The service sucked and I will never use it again.

It's not the connection I worry about, it's the level of service. What if I want to rewind a part in the film and discover that it makes my box freeze, or I pause the video to make dinner, and when I come back the screen is black and I can't get the movie to play? Those are the types of things that make me nervous.

Too expensive. Its still cheaper to rent it, and the movies are always outdated.

we have - it works great, never have had a single problem with it. (the HBO on demand is REALLY nice if you like hbo shows and want to catch episodes you may have missed)

jumpr - at least with comcast, when you rent a movie on demand, you get it all day. So assuming it does lock up the box you can always reset the box and pick up the movie exactly where you left off.

It's really nice on those days when you dont feel like driving to rent a movie.

we use vod, but the only movies we get for it are hbo, as thats the only pay movie channel we get. i dont use it for the movies (only movie was mars attacks, and it sucked), but my wife and i like to watch episodes of the sopranos, curb your enthusiasm, six feet under, and sex in the city(charlotte is fvckin hot!).

mag rack has some cool shows, like the space related ones.

I have DirecTV and a DirecTiVo box which I use all the time. I just rent pay per view movies ahead of time, if I know that I'll watch them, and set the Tivo to record them. Later when I'm in the mood to watch a movie I can just go the list of recorded programs and pick one of the movies that I rented. I've never had the box crash on me, so I don't worry about that. Also, when you rent it you get it for 24 hours, so even if the box crashes I could just set it to record a later session of the same movie.

Understandable.
