Do X58 motherboards turn on and off when starting like X38 and X48 boards?

I find this "feature" extremely annoying and all boards 975, X38, X48 from Gigabyte, Asus, DFI, and Intel that I've used/tried do it!

I understand. I don't know why either. I've noticed it since my A8R32 mvp d. board - very annoying but it must be part of some pre-posting sequence cause all my boards since then have done it.

Some early boards did it with the p35 chipset but a later bios solved it ..its normal for them to do this but i agree its kinda annoying and scares you when you first get the board and it looks like somethigs wrong when it starts to post and quits for a moment ...
Check with the tech support on the board manufacturer and see if a later bios will cure this..asus did cure this with a bios update....

I notice that when I change my BCLCK speed on my Gigabyte X58 board and press F10 to save and restart, it powers off and sits there for a few sec before starting back up. Gave me a scare at first, lol

this is a power suply test. the intel based chipset MB have this test. The MB checks weather the power supply is OK/has enough power to run the configuration- something like that. I've first noticed on a intel P965 based MB. Very annyiong -agreed.

Ok so I am not going crazy. ;)

Thank heavens for delay motor start on drives though! Before the pumps and TE's were time delayed the lights actually flickered slightly when the system was first powered up! :Q
