Do women really wear the pants in a marriage?

I say they do. I think women are great at making men think they are somehow the leader in the marriage/family, but when it all comes down to it, how many have heard their fathers say "Go talk to your mother."? Behind any successful marriage I think there's one heck of a female pulling the strings.

Excuse me, I was putting on my jeans, did you say something? ;)

Actually though, most of the sucessful marriages I have seen are made of two people working together. I don't think you can have a truly succesful marriage if only one person decides how things will be run.

LOL,

No seriously though. I'm not saying the guys are kicking and screaming throughout the whole marriage..just that they accept (and are totally fine with) many decisions made solely by the female. On the other hand, leave a man to the job of making major decisions and the wife will almost certainly object.

It's like when you're small, and your parents make the decisions for you but you don't mind (i.e. you're going to play soccer in a league, or you're going to go to this school, etc.). I think if you really look at the small things, the woman is always the one making the decisions - groceries, kids clothes, where to live, whether their husbands dress up or down for some event, etc.

There was one time that my mom and dad were going out last week and my mom didn't like what my dad was wearing, so she told him to go put on a suit. I can't see my dad making that request, or in the event he did, being successful.

Same with groceries...I've never seen my dad go out doing groceries by himself without first being instructed on what to buy, by my mom.

It's not that my dad is unable to make decisions or not intelligent, but I think he (like a lot of men) just get lazy and expect people to make decisions for them, much in the same way when they were little they expected the parents to make decisions for them.

When I was a kid I used to marvel at how wise my Grandmother was: she always made my Grandfather think he was calling the shots. My wife doesn't believe in deceptions like that. I always know who's in charge around here!! ;)
