maybe if you'd just take the garbage out the first time asked, so that she doesn't have to deal with a stinky, full garbage can while trying to cook dinner...

No nagging. But I guess it depends on your dynamic. We respect each other enough as adults to treat each other as such. If your SO needs to constantly harp at you like you're some little kid, then that says something about how they feel about you. You should find someone with whom you can be equals.

And that "happy wife" saying is a crock. Both people's happiness matters equally.

I really detest the "happy wife" nonsense. My soon to be wife and I are in agreement that both of our levels of happiness and feelings matter. Since I am getting married soon I hear it all the time! I usually say we are both committed to each other's happiness and having an unequal relationship is not a good thing.

Fuck if I know. She's usually flailing her arms around and squawking about something or other that I can't really hear. I just whip out the D and she settles down for a few days.

This. Not to mention anyone who calls himself/herself an adult should want to fix tiny personal imperfections that would take near zero effort to actually fix. I'm talking childhood habits like picking up your dirty underwear and replacing the toilet paper that many adults seem to have missed.

The whole "well he's/she's just that way" mentality is a relic from when marriage was more economic than emotional. Nagging was expected because there was no way in hell anyone was changing for anyone. Nowadays if symbiotic personal change isn't for you, then find someone who's already your perfect match in every way (good luck) or don't get married. Or get married and be resigned to slowly growing numb and then using rationalized platitudes to justify it.

Women always find something to talk about, you are focused or concentrating on something else, that wont stop em.

For some its nagging, for others, its talking about non shared interests that gets to them....
