Do wireless keyboards and mice suffer from lagging in games?

Hi there,

I'm thinking about upgrading my TV to a widescreen LCD with monitor input, so I can watch all my video files and play some games...

Since I don't want wires strewn all over the house, I'll need a wirelss keyboard and mouse (the couch is about 2 metres from the TV, and the computer will be sitting right next to the TV - so direct line of sight and small distance)

I heard that using a wireless mouse and KB leads to lagging in games...

is this true?

Probably so (strictly speaking), but very very slight as to be unnoticeable in my experience. I've hooked up my PC to an HDTV before and played games from across the room with my MX Duo with no problems (then again, I use them to game on my normal monitor with no problems either:p)

Hardcore gamers use wired.

There is often a slight, sometimes imperceptible delay with wireless.

I use a Logitech wireless keyboard, and a wireless MX1000 mouse. I play UT99 all the way up to FEAR, and havne't noticed a bit of lag from my old wired components.

I also have an MX Duo on my main machine at home, and it's fine for gaming...been using it for about three years now. I've also got an MX700 at work, primarily for after-work gaming, but it also beats the the snot out of the wired Intellimouse...for everything, not just gaming.

RF wireless may demonstrate some lag over distance. If you're only two meters from the receiver, you should be just fine. If you have any concern, or you do notice some lag, you could always opt for bluetooth.

The only thing about my wireless setup is that the mouse is heavier with the batteries, but I'm used to now. I always get random pop-ups because my battery is "low" or the signal is "poor" even though I just put in fresh batteries or its a foot away. I don't care anyways, it's still better than wires.

Older wireless mice used to have like 100ms lag on them, which made it pretty sucky in a precision game like counterstike. However, recently Amazon had a deal on the Logitech G5 and G7 laser mice. Essentially they are the same mouse, but the G5 is wire and the G7 is wireless. I bought the G5 and he bought the G7. I have to say the G5 is the best mouse I have ever used, but just for fun I stole his for a day to see how it was. It was 100% the same speed as my G5. Which kind of upset me, because now im wishing I had gone G7. The only advantage the G5 has is the ability to modify the weight. The G7 on the other hand comes with 2 batterys, where you charge 1 and use 1, then swap everytime it dies. Its genius.

Moral of the story, I love my G5, it has made my Counterstrike scores skyrocket, and Im wishing I had gone G7 because it is the same with no wires.

The G7 has absolutely no lag at all, as was said.

Old mice though, they were awful.
