Do widescreen TVs allow you to shift vertical bars

I'm considering purchasing a new widescreen TV, but it wouldn't be centered in the room. I watch a significant amount of 4:3. Do any TVs allow you the move the content left or right (so that instead of equal size vertical bars, there is a single black area).

Huh, I wonder if that would be a way to help prevent image retention when viewing 4:3 content. Have the TV automatically shift the image to the left or right side after x amount of hours of viewing.

Not that I know of (mine and the others that I've messed with don't), but to be totally honest, I don't think moving it is going to make much of a difference. Even on a huge screen it would only shift a few inches.

never heard of a tv being able to do that. it would be pretty annoying anyway IMO.
