Do widescreen LCD's do anything weird with full screen 4:3 videos?

So I know with 4:3 games they either stretch it or you have to use one of the tricks from wsgforum or whatever, but what about video files? If you just load a regular 4:3 video and play it in full screen with WMV or VLC does it behave any differently than a CRT?

Depends on the media player I suppose. I use Media Player Classic and it has options to either stretch it or keep aspect ratio with black bars on the side.

Yeah that's what I was asking, if you set it to keep aspect ratio, will it. Because it seems like a lot people have problems with games being "stretched" so I was just wondering about video players, thanks.

Oh and my original post should've said WMP not WMV. :)

Yep. This seems to be software dependent and not driver/hardware dependent. WMP 11 and PowerDVD both can preserve aspect ratio in media that I played on widescreen.
