That we did in the 60's/70's? or our parents did. It seems alot was changed than by studend movements ect ect, and lately all people do now is complain about it, but do nothing to change anything.

Born with insight and a raised fist
A witness to the slit wrist, that's with
As we move into '92
Still in a room without a view
Ya got to know
Ya got to know
That when I say go, go, go
Amp up and amplify
Defy
I'm a brother with a furious mind
Action must be taken
We don't need the key
We'll break in

Something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
'Cause I'll rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em

Fist in ya face, in the place
And I'll drop the style clearly
Know your enemy...Know your enemy!
Yeah!

Hey yo, and dick with this...uggh!
Word is born
Fight the war, ****** the norm
Now I got no patience
So sick of complacence
With the D the E the F the I the A the N the C the E
Mind of a revolutionary
So clear the lane
The finger to the land of the chains
What? The land of the free?
Whoever told you that is your enemy?

Now something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
'Cause I'll rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em

Now action must be taken
We don't need the key
We'll break in

I've got no patience now
So sick of complacence now
I've got no patience now
So sick of complacence now
Sick of sick of sick of sick of you
Time has come to pay...
Know your enemy!

Come on!
Yes I know my enemies
They're the teachers who taught me to fight me
Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission
Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite

Power - yes. Will to use it - no. We tend to be self-absorbed, fat, and lazy.

Even power would be questional from what I see, studen protests stamped out faster, difference excuses used ect ect.

Also, since I didn't live back than, perhaps some people who have, do we trust the government less now than we use too?

This is America, why would you want to change anything? In fact, for even thinking such thoughts, you're now on the list for a free trip to Guantanamo...

If anything, we have more. It's the issues that have changed, and are no longer in the realm of things that the active youth giveash!t about.

Seriously, the hottest issues that young people care about these days are marijuana legalization and "the war in Iraq" - and quite simply, neither of them have reached the "boiling point" that the type of issues you're thinking of did. These are just lukewarm, if that.

only one word can change america.

MONEY

didn't people say that back than? Or do you mean, that in order to bring about change there has to be a finacial reason to change. IE, So and So company does (insert horendour like purposely poisoning a mjor city) so no one purchases there products anymore. That would bring about change as it would financially affect them right?

Most people are apathetic or too divided to really do anything about stuff now days. In America there are 12% below poverty. In the next 10 years there will be 10-15% of our jobs going over seas/china and no one is really doing anything about it. I think the trade deficite is 200 billion with China now and still no one is doing anything. By the time people wake up it will be too late. I think for the past 10-15 years there has been to much trust in the government. Everything now is spun to make it sound like something else. So much money is spent in Washington D.C. in political action campaigns (pacs). Where is the outcry for the average american and those below average on the economical scale?

I'll probably get flamed or told that I am turning this into a political thead. Sorry

i think that we as young people in general are lazy. not all, but most. we have the power to do anything, yet it seems like we (in general) will just bitch and take no action

i read the thread title as
"Do we still have the same power of cheese
that our parents/grandparents had?"

lol

I will say one thing though. I like lou dobbs money program on cnn. I have only been able to see it a couple times, but at least someone is out there talking about the issues of the day. I do think that we need a more active media and one not just driven by talking points from either side of the political spectrum. More attention needs to be given to economic issues and social issues. i haven seen a report recently, but last time I looked there were some 35 million people without health insurance.

I want to thank you for making this thread. I wish more people would respond in it. I also think the government is to absorbed in itself. I wish I could explain it better, sorry.
