Do we really need to run spyware scanners? Ok, so whiuch ones are the best? Ad Aware? SpyBot Search and Destroy?

I would think they are not spyware. Plus if one were they would probably detect one another. In hopes of driving the other out of business. Or something.

They are not spyware. And no you do not NEED to run it. Feel free to pay $500 + a month with your porn dialers and live with "ad servers" that create pop-ups for you and are next to impossible to remove.

Spy-bot + Spywareblaster works really nicely in combo, I'm pretty happy about those. Also the Free Anti-Vir can block dialer programs (and vira and backdoors ofcourse) so I guess I'm happy........even though your scepticism is healthy

Even better is use Ad-aware with the above,I have had no problems using all 3 .

I only used ad aware in the past. About a month ago my kids got something on their computer that ad aware wouldn't take care of. Spybot took it down though.

ad aware doesnt take away spyware, it takes away ADware.
basically, spyware is more harmful than adware.
