Do we live in an Instagram world now?

As if money and popularity couldnt get anymore important along comes Instagram and every decent looking under 30f is gonna wanna see yours

I know people that make $30k a year just off IG.
Kind of ridiculous but if that's your thing...

Don't go on it. I don't, but the younger people at work show me random good looking girls on there. Good for them, I would take advantage of making money off looking good on the Internet too.

I don't use instagram, I never understood the point. FAcebook is personal and has a chat, it's different. And even then, rendered a bit obsolete by whatsapp.

Pretty much, yeah. That said, I'm surviving just fine without a FB, Twitter Instagram, Snap chat, etc account.

You only think you are but without FB Twitter, Instasnapchatgram how will you be able to compare yourself to others to find out? Even if you are doing fine - how will the rest of the world know??

Both myself and my dogs get free products as company ambassadors on IG.

Without googling I still don't even get what Instegram is, and how it's so different from Facebook. Same with Snapchat. They seem like they're basically bastardized versions of FB, I don't really see the point or why they're so popular. Maybe it's because I'm too old. Damn kids need to keep their Instragrams and Snapchats off my lawn and go play Nintendo or something. 😛

Trying to make my dog Instagram famous was too hard. I think he got up to like 500ish followers in a couple months (pitiful I know) but I got lazy/tired of posting something every day.

" Do we live in an Instagram world now?"

Hmmm, in my 58.5 years, I have never used Instagram. So no!
Plus, my spell-check has a red squiggly line under the word "Instagram" So hell no!

Spellcheck? Learn to spell. I type out my forum responses on my smith corona typewriter and mail them to my nephew who then posts them.

Instagram is interesting, in that it has had a not insignificant part to play in the dwindling sales of compact cameras. It has specifically excluded all but mobile devices. Even today, you can't upload an image to Instagram from a PC. With Facebook/Instagram's massive userbase, this has really bolstered mobile photography. In a way, that's a great thing, since camera technology across all levels has really stagnated in a lot of ways compared to mobile. Now the smartphone has practically replaced all but the high end compact cameras, despite the relatively puny sensor sizes, which is amazing.

Having said that, Instagram is annoying, in spite of its being limited to mobile, and because of its limited functionality and it forcing users to crop images. It's just one of those things that we're stuck with cause everyone's on there now. As someone who's into photography, I much prefer other sites that cater to photography oriented people, but I can understand why Instagram became more popular due to it just being easier and more accessible to just about everyone. A numbers game, I guess.
