Do we have a right to call the cops? If so, what the heck would they do if anything?

My gf's uncle has been using the front of her house as a staging area to fix his car along with other ppl. He charges them money, and what's worst is he leaves a lot of mess behind. There's oil slick near the curb and some have gotten on the sidewalk. With all the car fumes and the other unhealthy crap, he's got a major attitude and everyone is sick of him. yet, no one wants to do anything about it. go figure, we're asian and we want no trouble.

Anyways, im tired of him also becuz he fvck up my car once and i wanna get back at him. Who would I call to report his a$$? I mean, he doesnt live there, but he uses every god damn thing in the house to fix his cars. If i call the cops and make a report, we could just say he doesnt have the authority to use our house and on top of that he's pretending to be a mechanic w/o proper license and he's endangering the health of the ppl there.

So, should i do it?

Maybe contact your local zoning authorities. Is the area he is working zoned for that type of work? If he is running it as a business, it needs to be zoned and licensed properly.

Yea good one...we dont like his a$$ and his wife recently left him and his been living in his mini van in front of my gf's house. his so pathetic, but no one has the guts to say anything to him. i wont say anything, but i would call the cops and make a complaint.

can we get him for sleeping in his car?

No way, he figures it's his sisters house so he just uses it. Every damn week he has like 2 customers and takes up the damn sidewalk with his tools. It's a normal street and shouldnt even be used to do what he does. I can see regular oil change and stuff like that, but he takes out the tranny and other huge things and places it on the sidewalk. Oil and grease builds up and it smell horrible!

I have friends from all walks of life and it seems to me all asian ppl i know are scared for one reason or another. in this case, her parents are scared the cops will come down on them and not the guy. asian ppl like to have ppl walk all over them. i hate to say it but it's true.

I think it's because Asians are closer, nicer, etc. to relatives like that... at least in my family that's true.

Because it's his gf's house? Iono about you, but if someone was stepping all over my gf's family like that, I'd step in.

Notfred, its kinda stereotypical, but its true. At least for the viet community here in southern california. Because a lot of them don't know how to speak english and don't know the law, they're almost afraid to call the cops unless someone got murdered or is having a heart attack or something. Usually once their kids grow up and speak english, this kinda stops. Of course, if the kids happen to not learn english anyway and run around as gangster wannabe's then the family never moves on from this.

why do you think im thinking about calling the cops. we already told the loser to go away, but since he's older than his sister he can walk all over her. sounds stupid but its true in a lot of asian families.

Anyways, im going to see if i can find a cop parked nearby (they are usually around parked somewhere doing nothing) and make a report with them or something.

He can't really do that. It'll be really butting into the family business. Unless they've been going out for years and the family loves him or they asked him to help or something, they'll hate him for butting in like that.

Walking all over means she's letting him walk all over. Even in traditional families if someone's doing something wrong or harmful, you can speak up. What's going to happen after the cops leave? And the day after that? And after that? The police can offer a short term solution, not solve long term family problems.

I'm gathering that it's not your gf's house, but her parents' house? If that's the case, I would not get involved. If her parents want him gone, they need to ask him to leave.

If they don't ask him to leave, no matter how much they bitch about him, they don't really want him gone. (Would you give your brother the boot, if he were down and out and living in a van in front of your house?)

You will score no points by trying to help (I'm not asian, but I would be shocked if that made a difference). Only way I could see doing it would be if they (the parents, not the gf) specifically ask you to do it. And then I would still expect the whole situation to blow up on me somehow.
